Meetings
The VWC includes access to face-to-face meetings for presentations and discussions about key virtual-worlds issues and trends as well as for networking and dialogue with representatives of other sponsor organizations. Meetings will be at SRIC-BI's headquarters in Silicon Valley, as well as in Tokyo, Japan, and London, England. These meetings—a core component of VWC—provide sponsors with an opportunity to hear from experts, discuss important issues, and network with the virtual-worlds community. Sponsors will find the meetings a valuable part of the program, and we strongly encourage participation.
Upcoming Meetings:
We will follow up later with more details about the topics and agendas for these meetings, but here is a brief description and current schedule (still preliminary since we are still working on confirming dates with speakers):
- 27 June 2008 meeting at SRI's Menlo Park, California facility. This meeting will be the final meeting of the first year of the VWC, and one of the topics will be to review trends and developments over the last year and also look ahead to what we expect to see in the next 12 months. We will seek input and suggestions from you about issues you would like to see us address at this meeting.

- 27 May 2008 Online Meeting
This Webinar addressed two topics: How to successfully plan and implement virtual-worlds projects, and selecting a virtual-worlds platform.
- 28 April 2008 VWW Meeting
This special meeting, held in collaboration with two other organizations, focused on the use of virtual worlds for new employee training (i.e., onboarding) and sales training. We heard from a leading IBM practitioner as well as from a number of organizations that are planning or implementing virtual worlds for these kinds of learning and training applications.
- 27 March 2008 VWC Meeting in Second Life
At this meeting we focused on the use of virtual worlds to create virtual work spaces. We heard the CEO of Rivers Run Red—one of the leading virtual worlds services companies—describe the company's work on this front and we also heard a case study of Unilever, one of the world's largest consumer products companies.
- 25 February 2008 VWC Meeting
This second face-to-face meeting of VWC focused on one of the application areas that have generated considerable interest in the VW industry, and especially among enterprise users: Collaborative work.
- 12 December 2007 VWC Meeting in Second Life
VWC held its first Second Life meeting to examine how organizations can use Second Life and other virtual worlds to expand and accelerate their innovation processes and activities.
- 9 October 2007 VWC Meeting
VWC kickoff meeting at SRI International's headquarters in Menlo Park, California, with presentations, interactive discussions, and networking covering a range of virtual-worlds issues and developments.
